To respond to a critical and
growing need, Johns Hopkins
Business Program introduced
a Competitive Intelligence
Graduate Certificate program
in 2005. Cipher CEO Peter
McKenney has been involved
in the program since its
inception.
He will again teach the
Competitive Intelligence
course, this time at the
Washington, DC campus.
Cipher consultants and
subject matter experts will
be brought in as guest
speakers to supplement the
course material.
This is the first in a
series of five courses
required to earn the
graduate certificate. In
this course students apply
analytical and
socio-technical techniques
that greatly improve
organizational decision
making as related to
Competitive Intelligence,
and gain a full
understanding of the issues
related to the collection,
analysis, and management of
external information. This
valuable knowledge can
immediately be put to use by
students in the professional
marketplace regardless of
their industry.
“The demand continues to
increase for CI
professionals in the
Baltimore-Washington area;
we have had a good response
to the program,“ said Johns
Hopkins program director Dr.
Jay Liebowitz. “Peter
McKenney continues to be a
valuable member of our
extended team. He has years
of practical experience in
the field coupled with
academic acumen – a
combination that brings
added value to the classroom
experience for our
students.”
This ongoing teaching
partnership between Cipher
and Johns Hopkins is led by
Peter McKenney. In addition
to his work with Cipher
clients, Mr. McKenney speaks
extensively in the field of
strategic research. A native
of Massachusetts, Mr.
McKenney served in the US
Naval Submarine force, is a
certified nuclear engineer
and holds an MBA from the
University of Pennsylvania's
Wharton School of Business.
